St. Petersburg International Energy Forum opened on Sept 18th, 2012
On September 18th, the 12th St. Petersburg International Energy Forum launched its work with a plenary session specially devoted to further development of the global and Russian power industry. The event is attended by over 500 delegates from 13 countries, including Russia, Belarus, UK, China, Germany, Spain, Canada, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Slovenia, US and Finland.
During the session, Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Fedorov assured that the tax reform in the oil and gas sector will be continued. By loosening fiscal policy, we attract investors. Otherwise, in the long term, production volume of raw materials will fall so that Russia risks losing its status of energy superpower. Over the recent years, the country has run only three new projects for field development due to specific targeted benefits to investors only. This September the Department of Energy promises to provide new rules, which are already applied to the key players in the market, – the so-called uniform methodology for stimulating new projects launch.
Pavel Fedorov, Deputy Energy Minister of Russia:
"We have quite a number of fields that should work, – to do so we need to adapt the regulatory framework, fiscal management conditions in order to create motives for the owners of these deposits to invest under consolidated methodology, to attract capitals – in accordance with the highest international standards".
The Forum discussion are supported by thematic exposition at Lenexpo Fairgrounds, covering all aspects of the energy industry, such as exploration and production of energy resources, processing and transportation, power generation and distribution, as well as the manufacture and application of modern power equipment – MIRR, Renewable Energy, Offshore-expo, Neftegasexpo, Oil Refining and Petrochemical Industry, Nuclear Industry, Power Machine Engineering, Transenergoexpo.
