Russia`s forestry sector development discussed at SPIFF 2013
The 15th St. Petersburg International Forestry Forum will be officially opened October 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Lenexpo Fairgrounds (Pavilion 6). The welcome speech will be delivered by V.A. Lebedev, Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Environment, Head of the Federal Forestry Agency, S.M. Zimin, Deputy Plenipotentiary Envoy of the President of the Russian Federation to the Northwestern Federal District, Investment Plenipotentiary to the Northwestern Federal District and other experts.
Opening Plenary discussion dedicated to the topic of “The future of Russian forestry sector. Which development scenario would it be appropriate to us?” will be one of the most important Forum events. It will be moderated by Roman Gerasimov, host of the show 'Open Studio', Channel 5, St. Petersburg and V.A. Lebedev, Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Environment, Head of the Federal Forestry Agency. All Forestry Sector experts are invited to participate in the discussion.
The major issues to discussion: which scenario will the Russian forestry sector follow; what will contribute to the development of the forest industry in the short term perspective; can the development of wood processing in Russia become a national priority project; financing of Forestry; role of the government in demand stimulating activities.
The official languages of the event are English and Russian.
