The Russian Furniture Industry Summit to open on June 28, 2012

The Russian Furniture Industry Summit will take place on June 28-29 in St. Petersburg, under the auspices of the Association of Furniture and Woodworking Enterprises of Russia and the Association of the North-West Furniture Enterprises. The partner of the Summit is ZOW, the international specialised exhibition of furniture fittings and accessories. The Summit organiser is RESTEC® Exhibition Company.

More than 150 professionals of the furniture industry from 12 countries of the world will take part in the event including furniture manufacturers and dealers, marketing specialists, certification and logistics experts, statesmen, representatives of noncommercial industry associations and regional furniture industry associations, business and representatives leading trade press.

Open discussions on the most topical issues of the furniture industry as well as reports and speeches by the leading experts from the USA, Germany, Scandinavia and other countries will be held within the framework of the Russian Furniture Industry Summit.

The plenary session held in form of a panel discussion devoted to “WTO: New Rules of the Play. Competition vs. Cooperation” will be the central session of the Summit. Ratification of the treaty on Russia’s entry to the WTO will take place on July 3. Integration of Russia into the world economy will considerably change the conditions for small and medium-size business. After the discussion, participants will be able to understand better all the opportunities and consequences following the opening of borders and domestic market for the most competitive international enterprises. Representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development, exporters and importers, CIS and European representatives having experience in working under the WTO conditions, as well as those who support and oppose Russia’s entry to the WTO will take part in the plenary session. 

Round table discussions concerning technical regulations, up-to-date financial instruments such as factoring, microfinancing, insurance, lending etc. will be held. Innovations and the latest technologies and materials forcompetitive furniture production will be featured in the special section.   

The Retail section will present new technologies in online and offline furniture sales. JRM Sales & Management, Inc., an international consulting company, will take part in the discussion. It has more than 35 years of practical experience in furniture industry with the leading American companies of the furniture industry and has been working in the Russian market for seven years already. The company experts have studied the peculiarities of the Russian consumers’ mentality and successfully adapted the American experience in the furniture industry (retail in particular) to Russian realities.

The Summit participants will also listen to the President of Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc. It is a holding company established in 1945 which is the major American manufacturer of cabinet and upholstered furniture. In 2010 its turnover amounted to $2 bln in wholesale and $2 bln in retail trade. The company has a unique experience in after-sale service, dealer cooperation, logistics and also offers its own brand Ashley Home Store for licensed retail.

The Consumer section will feature aspects of consumer behavior of clients coming from various Russian regions. Summit participants will discover how to build long-term relationships with their consumers and keep them loyal to the company.

The Design section will be devoted to furniture design trends. Ursula Geismann, chief design expert for the German association HDH will deliver a presentation. Scandinavian and German experts have been invited to join the discussion.  Moreover, the Russian Furniture Industry Summit participants will surely meet one-on-one with various industry experts, get acquainted with directors of Russian and foreign furniture manufacturing and commercial companies.
